Narrowcraft
New Boat Standard
Specification
Narrowcraft started building their Classic range of Narrowboats in
the early 80’s. It is our policy is to give you a price for your
boat at the time of order. We only require a 10% deposit with the balance
being due when the boat is inspected and approved by you. We do not like
negotiating for extras therefore we list below what you can expect with your
new boat.
Our boats are made from steel grade BS43A or equivalent sourced and
shipped to the factory from Birmingham with the baseplate at 12mm, the hull
sides 6mm, cabin sides 5mm and 4 mm cabin top. Internal profiles are 25.25.3
box section for the cabin sides and top, 60x60x6 angle section for the
baseplate support and 60x60x6 angle section for the hull sides. The angles
which brace the baseplate are spaced at 400mm (15.5”) to give extra strength
than the 600mm (24”) most builders use. The floor angle spacing means the floor
can be thinner giving extra headroom. The headroom is over 6’ 1” at the sides
and over 6’ 3” in the centre. We fit an extra guard or rubbing strake below the
waterline the full length of the boat for additional strength and protection.
The bow is traditionally shaped and has ’josher’ style guards profiled from our
working boat fleet (South Midland Water Transport) to protect the paintwork. 8
anodes (10 on 65’ plus) are fitted for additional protection as is a galvanic
isolator. The gas locker is in the bow and can accommodate 2 x 13 k bottles.
The stainless steel 750 litre water tank is fitted under the front well deck. .
Separate fuel tanks for heating and drive train fuel are standard in
preparation of changes in fuel duty. The hull interior is completely primed
after construction then spray foam insulation is applied. The hull sides and
bottom are given 2 coats of bitumastic paint for protection.
The engine is a Barrus 40 hp with PRM
gearbox. The engine is fitted with twin thermostats for rapid hot water.
The propeller is 18 x 10 PB supplied by Barrus to match the engine. It will include a hospital silencer and
Aquadrive unit that transfers the thrust of the propeller through the hull and
not through the gearbox bearings and engine mounts. Twin alternators are
fitted, one charges the 4 x 115 amp domestic batteries and the other charges
the engine battery. A diesel powered Eberspacher 5k. central heating system is
installed with radiators. The calorifier is in the drying cupboard and has a
1kw immersion heater. 240v hook up is fitted at both ends of the boat with 20
amp battery charger and when not hooked up the
3kw. Puresine Wave Inverter is ready for use. Power is available at many
sockets throughout the boat. A Tecma electric flush toilet with 70 gallon
holding tank that can be pumped out from either side. The galley is fitted with
Caprice cooker, 12v ‘fridge and microwave as well as a granite worksurface. LED
12 volt lighting throughout with additional reading lights. Your boat can be
fitted in Ash, Oak or Beech. The floor will be wood to match your lining
choice. We can fit tiles in bathroom or galley should you wish.
The interior is completely primed prior to the application of spray foam
insulation. The cabin sides and top will be painted in one colour with ICI
TurboPlus 2 pack paint to international colours in our paint oven and is
guaranteed for 5 years. The hull will have 2 coats of bitumatic paint as will
the bottom plate. The rear bands will be painted as will the top bends ready
for the signwriter whose services for 1 day are included in the price as is the
coachline. Navigation lights, horn and
tunnel light are all fitted and controlled from the lockable panel near the
helmsperson. The boat will be
complimented with brass mushroom vents, boathook and pole in holder. It will be
protected by front, rear and 6 side fenders. Two mooring stakes, 2 piling
hooks, mallet and hosepipe will be stowed on the boat as will an anchor. The
boat will be full of diesel and as we say ‘ready to cruise’.
The only items not included are curtains and cushion covers. Our
upholsterers will meet you on site to discuss your requirements. The only
options you might consider are an engine mounted 230v generator or
bow-thruster.
Narrowcraft’s Classic boats
are available exclusively from Narrowboat Sales Ltd. Narrowboat Sales will
provide moorings for six months free of charge at Alvecote Marina for each new
boat purchased. Our products are fully guaranteed by ourselves as well as the
Original Equipment Manufacturer of the individual components. The hull is
guaranteed for 10 years, the paintwork for 3 years, engine and drive train 2
years, inverter and chargers 2 years.
Whilst this is current
we are always looking to improve and progress and therefore the latest
specification might vary. You can however be assured it will be improved and
not downgraded.

Subject: Cratch and
Pram hood From: To: "Malcolm D
V Burge" <sales@narrowboatsalesltd.co.uk> |
Malcolm,
Would you be able to
provide a quote for a front Cratch and cover and also a rear Pramhood
For your info,
Trevor's report concluded by saying;
'The craft has very
good build quality and represents exceptionally good value at £72,000'
He makes comment about
the diesel tanks which I hope you can clarify Friday, in that,
'All the tank outlets
are fitted on the starboard tank, it appears therefore that the port tank does
not have an outlet. I assume the outlet pipe from the port tank passes
through the starboard tank before entering the engine compartment'
He also states that
the
'electrical
installation is to an extremely high standard'
Looking forward to
Friday
Regards
Matt Furber
TO CONCLUDE YES THE TANK CONNECTOR DOES PASS
THROUGH TO THE STARBOARD SIDE
